Clare Hillerby makes jewellery using handwritten
messages. Finding these pieces are what actually inspires her to make
jewellery. Interesting sections from old postcards, stamps and linen maps are
used in her jewellery. Different texts and handwriting styles are combined with
new metal to create new contemporary jewellery.
I really like that Clare's jewellery can also be classified as narrative jewellery because of the handwritten messages. She takes mementos and makes it last forever. I am quite a sentimental person and a moment that was enjoyed should definitely have some existence and clare gives all of these ephemera life and makes it last forever.
